2025 Fall Flute Day
Frequently Asked Questions
REGISTRATION
Q: How much is registration for Fall Flute Day?

A:
ADULTS: Fall Flute Day Registration Fee ($20) + ACTIVE AFC Adult Membership ($37)
STUDENTS: Fall Flute Day Registration Fee ($10) + ACTIVE AFC Student Membership ($27)

For attendees that are already current members, you only need to pay the Fall Flute Day registration fee! :)

Q: I am a parent/guardian/band director of a student participating in Fall Flute Day - do I need to register to attend with my child/student?

A: Parents/guardians/band directors that come to Fall Flute Day with a student do not need to register to attend. This also applies to immediate family members of the registered student.

Q: If I have been an AFC member before, how do I know if I need to renew my membership while registering for Fall Flute Day?

A: If you are unsure about your membership status, you can email our Membership Coordinator to check your membership status before submitting your Fall Flute Day registration. REMEMBER: all levels of membership now cover a full 365-day year and is a rolling membership (ex: if membership starts on October 1, 2025, it will end on September 30, 2026.)

GMEA ALL-STATE ETUDES MASTERCLASS
Q: I want to submit a video for the GMEA Etudes Masterclass! Is there an additional cost to do this?

A: Yes! There's just a additional $5 fee if you want to submit a recording to be considered as a performer in the masterclass.

Q: Where do I submit my GMEA Etudes Masterclass Application and pay the additional $5 fee?

A: You can submit your application, upload your video, and pay the $5 application fee HERE!
Q: For the etude masterclass submission, if a student submits a video of the etude but does not earn a spot to perform in the masterclass, will that student still be able to attend and observe the class as part of the audience?

A: Yes! Even if the student is not chosen to perform in the masterclass, they will still be able to observe the masterclass and learn from Ms. Smith and the student performers.

Q: Is the $5 masterclass application fee specifically for consideration for a performance spot in the etude masterclass? If students don’t earn a spot to perform, can they still attend the masterclass?

A: Correct - the $5 fee is ONLY for the students interested in applying for the opportunity to submit a video for masterclass performance consideration. ALL students registered for the event can still attend the masterclass to learn together and from each other!

Q: Which etudes will I need to submit for the masterclass application? Can I submit both the lyrical and technical etude and/or choose which etude I submit?

A: Students are welcome to submit just the lyrical etude, just the technical etude, OR both the lyrical AND technical etudes for the class! Each of the 3 GMEA divisions (Middle School, 9th-10th grade, and 11th-12th grade) will have their own etudes to prepare, and 2 students in each division will be chosen to play in the class. (Ex: one middle school student will be chosen to perform the lyrical etude, and another middle school student will be chosen to play the technical etude, and the same will apply for the 9th-10th grade and 11th-12th grade divisions for a grand total of 6 performers in the complete masterclass.) Follow this link to the GMEA website that shows links to the respective etudes for each division.
SCHEDULE
Q: Will adult participants and middle and high school students be divided into separate classes, or will everyone participate in the same sessions throughout the day?

A: After the combined flute choir sight reading session for both students and adults, everyone will have their own morning workshop sessions and will come together for larger group sessions after lunch.

Q: What does the schedule look like for the day, and when will that be posted/sent out to people that have registered?

A: The full day schedule is posted HERE!
